No show, this year!

Normally at this point on the Friday before Wonderwool Wales, I’m frantically checking I have everything packed into the car! Sadly this year, Atomic Knitting is not exhibiting at Wonderwool and after a lot of thought we chose to have a fallow year (a bit like the Glastonbury Festival)! It’s our first year off in over 10 years and I’ll miss seeing you all.

We were lucky enough to supply an item for this year’s goody bag for the Flock Gathering, so I feel like we are there in spirit at least. It’s a rather strange feeling, missing out on one of my favourite shows though.

As we like to be part of it all, there’s 15% off all orders placed on the website until midnight 1st May and free shipping on UK orders over £10!

Atomic Knitting at Wonderwool Wales

Wonderwool Wales 2017

Come and visit Atomic Knitting at Wonderwool Wales on 22nd/23rd April 2017!

Wonderwool Wales show is just 11 days away and I am so excited to be at this show again for the 9th year running.  The past couple of weeks have been a blur of creating lots of our individual products from stitch markers to Portuguese pins and everything in-between.

Atomic Knitting was also invited again this year to create the special gift for the FLOCK gathering at Wonderwool on Saturday evening. All will be revealed on the blog after the show! I hope to be posting updates about the show over the weekend on all Atomic Knitting social media channels, so do follow us.

If you are able to come to the show, I’d love to say hi at the Atomic Knitting stand (L1 in the main hall). It makes for a great day/weekend out in a lovely part of the world.

Next week the studio will be carefully packed up and transported to the Royal Welsh showground where the stand will be set up to showcase over 1500 products. As always, there will be some special stitch marker designs and other knitting/crochet goodies launching at the show. If there’s any left 🙂 these will then be available on the website in the week after the show.

If you can’t get to the show then the website will be open for ordering, although running a limited range of stock from Wednesday 19th April until the following Wednesday 26th April. Please note that all orders placed after Midnight on Tuesday 18th will be posted on Tuesday 25th April. Our wholesale shop will re open in May.

Now we are 10

One of our first shows in Birmingham

We can hardly believe that this year is our 10th year of business as Atomic Knitting! I still remember the first local craft show that we did and how it seemed that no one had heard of a stitch marker, let alone knew it’s purpose.
The past 10 years have been an exciting journey from a small hobby to a small business, from local fairs to national exhibitions and of course to our customers from Cardiff to California and London to Tokyo, we’ve certainly learnt a lot along the way. Thank You so much for your support!

We are celebrating our 10 years by thanking our customers and offering some special discounts and exclusives for all our valued newsletter subscribers.

This month we are offering a 10% discount on everything on the website when you checkout with code AK10. Remember if you spend over £15, the postage is free too.

best wishes

The Christmas Rush

Business was starting to pick up now, items selling daily, however the web site is no nearer completion. The potential is there, I can see it. So how can I make this work…….

A last minute opportunity arises to have a stall at a Christmas Craft Fair in Mumbles. This is too good an opportunity to miss out on. With 5 days to get ready with everything needed to sell, plus the stall to set up, and the 9-5 having a HUGE deadline that week, it was going to be pretty tough. A few late nights both at work and home, meant that we were just about ready on the day of the Fair. A dress rehearsal the night before in my kitchen, mocking up the stall, deciding where and how everything would be displayed, was definitely worth it. It took us about 3 hours to get everything as we wanted it, to have all the displays ready and the packaging.

We left early on the day of the Fair, arriving an hour before the doors opened to the public. We were just ready by the time the the first people came in. It was an interesting experience, we didn’t sell very much, but that was OK, it was a quiet fair, which was unusual for Mumbles. Our costs for the day were covered and it’s very different from selling sat in your home listing items on eBay, as opposed to meeting the customers and actually selling the items to them directly.
